Radio Access Network

A fundamental component of mobile telecommunications systems that connects mobile devices to the core network infrastructure. It encompasses the radio equipment, base stations, and antennas that facilitate wireless communication between mobile devices, such as smartphones, and the cellular network. The RAN is responsible for managing the radio resources, signal transmission, and reception, as well as controlling the handover of mobile devices between different cell sites to ensure seamless and efficient connectivity. In the context of evolving telephony technologies like 4G LTE and 5G, RAN plays a critical role in providing high-speed data and voice communication services to mobile users. It is an integral part of the overall mobile network architecture.
