Classless Inter-Domain Routing
A networking technique used for the allocation and routing of IP addresses on the Internet. CIDR replaces the older system based on classes with a more flexible method that allows for more efficient use of IP address space. It uses a notation (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24) to group blocks of addresses, reducing the size of routing tables and extending the usability of IPv4.
